Formula SAE gives students responsibility for an entire vehicle-development cycle. The team designs, analyzes, manufactures, assembles, tests, and competes with a student-built formula-style car.

Why Formula SAE matters
Formula SAE is an SAE International collegiate engineering design competition. Students operate like a small engineering organization, taking a vehicle from requirements and concepts through manufacturing, validation, technical inspection, and competition.
Performance matters, but so do safety, cost, reliability, manufacturability, documentation, and the ability to defend every engineering decision.

Meet the car
Formula Hardrocker Racing organizes the vehicle across six major technical groups. No subsystem succeeds alone, so every decision must account for packaging, loads, manufacturing, reliability, serviceability, and the rest of the car.
Structure, driver protection, packaging, stiffness, and subsystem mounting.
Engine, driveline, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and power delivery.
Tires, geometry, steering, dampers, brakes, and vehicle response.
Bodywork, composite structures, airflow, and aerodynamic devices when used.

Formula SAE · Structural design September — November 2025
I took on the 2026 front-wing mount redesign to demonstrate that I could own a complete structural problem, used topology optimization to identify the load path, rebuilt the result as manufacturable CAD, and contributed to my nomination to lead the 2027 frame.

I led the research, specimen design, sponsor coordination, fabrication, testing, and analysis for a controlled comparison of bonded carbon-fiber inserts and welded steel joints.

Formula SAE · Cost and manufacturing April 2026 — May 2026
On a two-person freshman team, I helped produce the mandatory 2026 Formula SAE Cost Scenario RFQ for the assigned suspension subsystem, documenting its complete manufacturing and assembly scope.
